Veterans Student Support Services
The Veterans Student Support Services are available to veterans, active service members, National Guard members and reservists. To help you succeed in your studies, the program provides numerous services:
- Course enrollment advice and assistance
- Assistance for federal financial aid and scholarships
- Education and counseling
- Activities to help you apply for admission and obtain financial aid for graduate and professional programs
- Individualized counseling
- Information and instruction on career paths
Veterans Upward Bound
If you are a veteran, National Guard member, or reservist who is interested in starting your education, Veterans Upward Bound can help!
The mission of East Central University’s Veterans Upward Bound Program, in support of the University and the Division of Student Development, is to provide U.S. military veterans with support services that ensure they have the motivation and skills to enter and graduate from a post-secondary institution. This federally funded grant program is available to U.S. military veterans, National Guard members and reservists. Trained academic counselors are available to assist you in preparing for any vocational/technical school or college and all services are free.
Veterans Upward Bound services include:
- Identifying career goals and your program of study
- Obtaining military and other transcripts
- Financial aid assistance
- GI Bill® information
- Instruction/tutoring in English, math, etc.
- Prep for entrance exams
- Workshops in time management and study skills
- Academic counseling

Veterans and Military Resource Center
The Veterans Resource Center is located in the Administration Building, Room 256, next door to the Veterans Student Support Services office. The center offers a relaxed, quiet learning environment exclusively for VSSS participants.
You will have access to a computer lab equipped with a printer, CAC readers, phone charging station, microwave, resource materials and the camaraderie of other military-connected students! Webcams are available to checkout for use in the resource center.
